The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government on Friday reduced oil prices by up to 5.6% for September.
According to a notification, the price of petrol was reduced by Rs 2.41 per litre bringing it down to Rs 92.83 per litre. High speed diesel (HSD) price went down by Rs 6.37, after which it would be available to consumers at Rs 106.57 per litre.
The rate of kerosene oil was slashed by 46 paisas, bringing it to Rs 83.50 per litre. Light diesel’s price was hiked by 59 paisas, taking it to Rs 75.96 per litre.
The reduction in prices will take effect from today (Saturday).
The Finance Ministry said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), approved the change in prices of petroleum products.
The Ministry of Energy had earlier proposed a hefty cut in the prices of petroleum products in a bid to provide relief to the consumers.
