LARKANA: A protest rally was taken out against removal of Pole Mounting Transformers (PMTs) from Union Committee-11 areas including Ayoob Colony, Pirzada Colony, Domki Colony and other areas.
Activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal led by district president Maulana Nasir Mahmood Soomro took part in the rally.
Passing through Jinnah Bagh, Pakistani Chowk, Royal Road and Municipal Stadium they staged a sit-in in front of SEPCO Executive Engineer Office. Maulana Nasir addressing participants said highhandedness of utility officials has been increasing day by day. He said load shedding has been remained a regular feature of power entity and fake cases have been registered against consumers on power theft.
They cannot weaken them through such fabricated and politically motivated FIRs. He demanded re-erection of eight removed PMTs on same places and providing relief from prolonged load shedding.
Larkana Awami Ittehad leader Moazam Abbasi said they were condemning registration of FIR against Maulana Nasir and his supporters and demanded withdrawal. He said PMTs have also been removed from several other areas of Larkana city which have forced the population to live like slaves in scorching heat.
