LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed against Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s nomination for NA-120 by-poll.
The petition against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate was filed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Faisal Mir and a few others. It was dismissed by a 2-1 majority vote at the hearing.
The petitioners’ lawyer argued that the returning officer for NA-120, Muhammad Shahid had not looked into the details of their objections regarding the concealment of assets. The defendant’s lawyer called the allegations against the former Prime Minister’s wife baseless.
The returning officer also submitted his statement in court in which he said that he had accepted her nomination papers after he found them in line with the requirements of the law.
