RATODERO: Residents of the Brohi locality who claimed to be Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists and voters staged a protest demonstration against the non-provision of basic utilities including electricity, gas, water, garbage disposal and drainage in the area.
They demanded that the Sindh government provide the area with basic facilities so that residents could lead a normal life. Protestors chanted slogans in front of the local press club, demanding that the municipal authorities remove piles of garbage dumped in their locality. They said that the area had a population of 2500 and most of them didn’t have access to basic, modern utilities. The protestors said they were old PPP supporters, who had also voted for the PPP in the recently held local body elections but the state of affairs in Brohi had left them disillusioned, some of them lamented living like stone-age humans in the year 2017. Some of the protestors accused Sindh government officials and senior PPP members of keeping them illiterate on purpose as there wasn’t a single school in the entire locality.
