LAHORE: Pakistan and India will discuss the water dispute under the supervision of World Bank on Thursday.
Water Resources Division Secretary Arif Ahmed Khan will head the Pakistani delegation which will discuss Pakistan’s concerns over the change in designs of 30 MW Kishanganga Hydroelectric Plant and 850 MW Ratli Hydroelectric Plant being built by India on River Jhelum and River Chenab respectively.
According to Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan is allowed unrestricted access to the water of Indus River. The design changes of the two projects have led to disagreements between the both countries with Pakistan contesting India’s alleged violation of the treaty.
