KARACHI: Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial has taken notice of alleged torture of a woman in District West area and sought a report on the matter.
The woman H* was allegedly burnt with cigarettes and her hair were cut by some neighbours, according to an FIR registered with Sharae Noor Jahan police.
The FIR nominates two women and at least six men who the police claim are residents of the residential complex in North Nazimabad where the complaint lives as well.
SharaeNoor Jahan SHO Abdul Ghaffar has told the media that the FIR had been registered on directives of the court. The complainant had approached the court directly on July 3 seeking registration of the case.
In the statement recorded with the police, the complainant stated that the suspects broke into her flat and started beating her. Later, they cut her hair and burnt her skin by stubbing cigarettes against it.
The police said in an earlier FIR under investigation at the same station the complainant had raised same allegations against one JavedIqbal, an official of the employees union at the residential complex.
They said Iqbal was arrested but he was later released on bail. They said the latest FIR had been referred to the investigations wing for further action.
