ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) has established a branch in Neelum for effective community resilience, community based disaster risk reduction, health and hygiene, mine risk reduction, first aid and restoring family link programs with the support of international donors.
PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi laid the foundation stone of the branch.
Dr Elahi said the PRC will be a permanent network in Neelum to assist families living in areas bordering the Line of Control (LoC), says a press release.
“The establishment of district branch in Bagh in December 2016 and now in Neelum besides the already established Muzaffarabad provincial branch is an example that the PRC is always there to support those needing the most”, he added.
He also announced one emergency response ambulance for the Neelum Branch.
He said the aforementioned PRC initiatives were running successfully in Kotli, Poonch and Muzaffarabad divisions and over 45,000 people in 10 districts of the AJK had benefitted from these programs. Chairman AJK Branch Dr Sardar Mehmood Ahmed said the Neelum branch will provide cover to all vulnerable people of the district. An industrialist from Multan Sheikh Farooq donated Rs 100,000 for the Neelum branch.
