Armed men gunned down a renowned lawyer Syed ul Azam Advocate here on Monday and fled the scene.
The legal fraternity held protest demonstration against the incident.
Police said that two armed motorcyclists sprayed bullets at General Secretary of Tank Bar Road in village Imam Khel while he was sitting outside Haroon Oil Agency in Tank, waiting for a van.
The lawyer was killed on the spot in the firing and the armed motorcyclists sped the scene after committing the murderer.
Addressing the protestors, President Tank Bar Room Pir Abdul Ghaffar Shah, senior lawyer Muhammad Zahid Advocate and others said that police have failed to provide security to public lives and properties due to which such incidents have become a routine.
Police assured the lawyers of taking action against the murderers after which they dispersed peacefully.
The body was handed over to heirs after a postmortem at District Headquarters Hospital after which the deceased was laid to rest at his native town Imam Khel,
A large number of people, including lawyers, local people and civil society members, attended the funeral prayers.
The police after registering a case against the two culprits Mehran Shah and Dawood nominated in the attack started raids for their arrest.
