LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah, on Sunday, revealed that the government and opposition have reached a consensus to appoint Justice (r) Javed Iqbal as chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Addressing a press conference in Sukkur, the opposition leader said, “he discussed the names proposed by other opposition parties for the appointment of NAB chairman with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi but the consensus was reached on the name of Javed Iqbal.”
Praising Justice (r) Iqbal, he said: “He has an outstanding record as a judge”. He also appreciated his work as the head of the Abbottabad Inquiry Commission.
He wished that the new chairman will fulfill his duties efficiently.
In 1993, Justice(r) Javed Iqbal was appointed as an additional judge at High Court in Quetta. After taking the oath under Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) in 1999, he became the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court.
He served as a judge in Supreme Court from 2004 to 2011.
