LALAMUSA: Funeral prayer of Hamid, a 12-year-old who was crushed by one of the vehicles in Pakistan Muslim Lague-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif’s convoy from Islamabad to Lahore rally has been offered on Saturday.
The funeral was attended by a large crowd including prominent political personalities from various parties, while the deceased was laid to rest in a local cemetery near Grand Trunk (GT) Road. However, no PML-N representative attended the ceremony.
Hamid was crushed by a vehicle with registered number SS-875, said eye witnesses, when he tumbled in front of the car and despite surrounding people asking the drive to stop, the car rushed on inflicting fatal injuries upon the 12-year-old. “The vehicle’s driver did not stop over seeing boy coming in front of it and ran over him,” a resident said.
Government of Punjab spokesperson Malik Ahmed Khan said that Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has composed an inquiry committee to probe the matter and initial reports propose that the car which hit the boy was a Corolla. Also, an FIR against unidentified driver and vehicle has been registered.
